Drama Role-Play

Project Overview

This is the midterm project for this course. You will work with a small group to present a situational role-play. The situation must be your original story. It could be a adapted from a traditional story, movie or TV show but it must be changed enough so that you are not copying the original. You should try to to relate this role-play to your major if possible.

This project is worth 20 points.

  • 15 points - Speaking (role-play)

  • 5 points - Writing (preparation work)

  • Participation (self and peer assessment)

    • This assessment will not count towards your midterm score, but will be a part of your class participation score.

Date of Presentations: 4/17 - 4/21
Writing (Preparation)

As you can see, part of your score (5 points) for this project will come from your preparation and writing. You will need to work together with your team to prepare an information sheet, character descriptions, a storyboard and a script for your drama.

Drama Info Sheet

This is a brief outline of your role-play with basic information about the story and characters.

Character Descriptions

You should develop the personalities and characteristics of the characters in your drama. Describe them and explain their background information.

Storyboard

This is a visual outline for the plot of your story. You should draw and write short descriptions of the major scenes or events in the drama.

Script

This is the dialogue (speaking parts) for the story. You want this to be organized and easy to read.

Participation (Self and Peer Assessment)

This assessment is based on your participation in preparing for the role-play, completing the work and working together with your team. You will complete a self-assessment and another group member will also assess you. You must submit an assessment form for each group member on the day you perform the role-play. The points from this assessment will be a part of your class participation score (5 points).
