Inventions to Change the World

Project Overview
This project is the final "test" in this semester. It is worth 30 points but it will be divided into 3 different parts. Each part is worth 10 points.
You will work with a group to design an invention that could somehow change or improve the world. You will give a group presentation, make a short video advertisement and print advertisement.
Your goal is to use the English skills you have learned in this class to describe your invention, present it to the class and persuade them that it is something they want. Your goal is to "sell" your invention to your classmates.
Project Deadline: 6/8 - 6/16
Form a Group, Brainstorm and Prepare
Form a group of 3-4 people (it cannot be the same group as your midterm group).
Brainstorm your ideas for a world changing invention. Discuss problems yoru could solve or things that might be needed in your life, your major or the world in general. There are several preparation documents in the project overview document (see the document link above) that you must submit for points.
Print Advertisement
Work with your group to design a 1-page print advertisement. This will look like a flyer or poster. You must use a computer to make this. It cannot be hand-drawn.
You should describe the invention, give details about how and where to buy it and explain why it is needed. Design the advertisement to be visually appealing and well-organized. Show that your invention is something that people will want to buy.
The advertisment is worth 6 points. The other points in this section come from the preparation documents and a reflection. Each member in your group should write a personal reflection about their experience working on this project.
Video Advertisement
Your team will produce a short (30 seconds to 2 minutes) video advertisement for your invention. Again your goal is to "sell" your invention to the class and prove that is useful and necessary.
You will need to show how the invention works and give details on cost and how to buy it. You must make an orginal video and advertisement concept. You will receive points for clarity (easy to understand), organization, creativity and quality.
Group Presentation
You will give a short, live presentation with your group to the class. Think of this as something like an infomercial or home shopping. You should be entertaining and give a fun presentation to explain your invention and convince the class to "buy" it.
You will be graded on your speaking and presentation skills. You must use the computer in some way (e.g. powerpoint, prezi, etc.) to support your presentation.
