Runnin' Down a Dream - Tom Petty

"I felt so good, like, like anything was possible...

There's something good waitin' down this road,

I'm pickin' up whatever's mine."

  • Follow your Dreams

In 2007 at the encouragement of a mentor, family and friends, I chose to pursue my dream of traveling the world and exploring new cultures. My life as an ESL teacher took me first to Costa Rica where I grew as a teacher, a person and a leader.

Break Down the Walls - Youth of Today

"Look beyond the fashion or the crowd they are in,

Look beyond their riches or the color of their skin,

Look beyond appearance and the truth you will find,

Look for what's inside before you make up your mind."

  • Diversity and Inclusion

Living abroad can change your perspective on many things. In my 12 years living abroad, traveling and interacting with people from unique backgrounds and diverse cultures, I have learned that there is more that unites us than divides us. Yet it is essential to celebrate our differences and ensure that everyone has a chance to voice their opinions. We must strive for equity in education for all.

  • Overcoming Barriers and Challenges

A life abroad inevitably comes with challenges and hardships. From struggles to communicate to health issues and instances of physical danger, learning to overcome obstacles helps us grow stronger and wiser. Additionally, I had many opportunities to witness and contribute to reducing various barriers to education.

Arirang - Korean Folk Song

"To find my true self, to control it,

And to lead it to enlightenment

to enjoy happiness with it."

  • A Lifelong Learner

Starting in 2009, I spent over 10 years living and working in South Korea. I experienced a vastly different culture, learned about and developed myself, and gained a fresh perspective on education, life and learning.
