Project Overview

Through personal observation and discussions with learners and peers within the Freshman English 1 program, a need for a more varied and interactive project was identified. This project allows students to demonstrate a wider range English language of skills through activities that have applications to real world issues.

This final project asks students to work together in small groups to design an invention that could somehow change or improve the world. Using the skills they have built upon throughout the course, they will utilize descriptive, explanatory and persuasive language techniques in order to present and "sell" their invention to the class. The project involves a group presentation as well as the creation of both print and video advertisements.
